Jay's Model Art
Airbrush Artist & Modeller Jay Blakemore
Self-taught, British airbrush artist & modeller Jay Blakemore, works from his village-based studio situated in the heart of England.
Jay bought his first airbrush in 1984 after leaving the RAF Regiment, and has worked customising motorcycles, spraying electric guitars and creating original artworks that have appeared in books and on magazine covers.
He worked with Holland Studio Craft on their popular Enchantica range of fantasy figurines and books and worked too with Patrick Eggle Guitars, to establish their Coventry-based spray department, becoming Spray Shop Manager until the original companies demise in the mid-90's.
More recently Jay has turned his talents to creating scale models for private collectors, museums and magazines. He also conducts one to one airbrush tuition, his lessons being primarily focused on the hobbyist and modeller, at his Midland's based studio: Welcome to jays-model-art
'I consider that each scale model I make is a three-dimensional work of art in it's own right. But more importantly, as historical subjects they tell an important story that is central to who we are. It is crucial to me to get them right, and that means making them look as life-like and accurate as I can'.
